NCP legislator from Gambegre Saleng A Sangma on Tuesday alleged that furnitures in most of the schools under his constituency are no longer there.

“Benches in most of the schools are not there (anymore wiithin this gap of two years),” Sangma said while raising a supplementary question in the Assembly.

“I have tried to give (benches) from my SUWP scheme but I cannot address (the problem since) there are more than 100 villages,” he said while urging the government to provide adequate furnitures to such schools.

In his reply, Minister in-charge Education Lahkmen Rymbui said there is no report on such incidents. “We will seek a report,” he assured.

Sangma however said that he is reporting the matter to the minister as the incident is happening in almost all the schools within his constituency to which Rymbui assured that the department will look into the matter.
