The opposition All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) on Wednesday constituted the block Trinamool Congress committee at Williamnagar in East Garo Hills District.

Office bearers were elected and new members were inducted into the party fold during the meeting.

Speaking during the meeting, the proposed president of the Williamnagar block, Hellison B. Sangma bashed the ruling MDA government, and said, “ No work has been done in the last 4 years, no new roads or any development was announced for the constituency. Since TMC gave us a pedestal to work on, we’ll ensure that we’ll carry forward the development agenda of our leader Dr. Mukul Sangma, and work for the people.”

Hitting out at the BJP, Sangma said, “ We tribals are against the ideology of BJP, and we reject BJP’s idea of one nation and one language, we have our own language and culture we strictly align with it.”

Along with Sangma, TMC leader Rinaldo K Sangma (MDC Rongrong) acknowledged the support of people for the party and said, “ Not people in Garo Hills but people all over Meghalaya want a change, one can see clearly the drawbacks and discrepancies from the ruling governments, people from all walks of life are suffering and looking for a change.”

Other leaders present in the meeting were  Agassi R Marak, Balachanda MDC,  Rongrong; Lahitson M Sangma, MDC Samanda; Sengnam N Marak, ex- MLA Rongjeng.

The new leadership of the party assured that they will continue to be the most vociferous voice of Meghalayans and will continue to fight for their rights, to take Meghalaya towards new heights and prosperity.
