    In view of the increasing number of unauthorized constructions in prohibited and regulated areas of Centrally Protected Monuments (CPMs) and in compliance with the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (AMASR) Act 1958, the National Monuments Authority (NMA), Ministry of Culture, Government of India has issued guidelines to be comply with when issuing NOC or granting building permits in the prohibited or regulated areas of Centrally Protected Monuments (CPMs)

    The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (AMASR) Act prohibits any construction activity or alteration to the protected area around ancient monuments without the approval of the National Monuments Authority (NMA). The AMASR Act prohibits construction within a 100- meters radius of protected monuments and a regulated area extends up to 200 meters beyond that.

    Centrally Protected Monuments (CPMs) in West Jaintia Hills includes Megalithic Bridge at Amlarem, Megalithic Bridge known as Thlumuwi at Mupyut, U-Mawthoh-dur-briew at Nartiang, Megalithic Bridge Syndai and A Tank at Syndai.
