NIPER Guwahati sparks scientific curiosity with open science day for school students

NIPER Guwahati hosted an Open Science Day on Friday, welcoming around 220 students from St. Vivekananda English Academy, Guwahati, and Rupkonwar Academy, Changsari. The event aimed to ignite scientific curiosity among young minds and introduce them to the world of pharmaceutical and biological research.
Students toured NIPER’s cutting-edge laboratories, interacting directly with scientists, research scholars, and students. These hands-on experiences allowed them to explore various departments and gain firsthand exposure to ongoing scientific work.
Dr. U.S.N. Murty, Director of NIPER Guwahati, addressed the attendees, stressing the importance of engaging the next generation in advanced scientific research and highlighting the nation’s growing need for skilled pharmaceutical scientists and biotechnologists.
Faculty members and research scientists spoke to students about potential career paths after 12th grade, offering practical insights into higher education and opportunities in life sciences.
By opening its doors, NIPER Guwahati aimed to inspire future scientists and demonstrate the impact of research on healthcare and innovation in India.
