    The District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District E Kharmalki on Friday has decided to impose night curfew on two days of the week on every Saturday and Sunday to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. 

    According to the order, the night curfew will be in place from 11:00 P.M to 5:00 A.M.

    Kharmalki said the decision was in view of reported cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in foreign countries and others states within India and for the purpose of prevention and control of the outbreak of COVIID-19 in East Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya and also keeping in view of the emerging scenario and safety of the general public and to avoid any outbreak of an epidemic.

    The order will not apply to Security Force, Medical Teams on duty, Wholesale and Retail Pharmacies, Police and Armed Force, Fire & Emergency Service, MeECL, DTO Office, Enforcement Inspector, Print and Electronic Media.

    This order come into force with immediate effect until further orders.
