In view of the overall improvement of the law and order situation in Tura Town, Jagdish Chelani, IAS, District Magistrate, West Garo Hills, Tura announced the withdrawal of the night curfew from 5 am on Friday morning.

Notably, the night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am was imposed under Section 144 CrPC on Monday night after an incident of stone pelting and arson in and around CM’s Secretariat, Tura.

In order issued on Thursday, the District Magistrate withdraw the enforcement of Section 144 CrPC from Friday morning and thereby shops, petrol pumps and wine stores can function as usual.

The decision was taken as no report of anti-social elements were found, which could jeopardize the peace and tranquillity in Tura Town.

The BSF armed forces that were requisitioned for duty in Tura also stand withdrawn with immediate effect.
