The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, East Jaintia Hills District, has issued a public advisory regarding the temporary closure of National Highway-6 between Lumshnong and Malidor. The closure, which will last eight hours daily from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, is necessary to facilitate construction, renovation, and repair works on the highway.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that both light and heavy motor vehicles will be prohibited from accessing the stretch during this period to ensure the speedy completion of the works. Emergency vehicles, including ambulances, will be allowed access under coordinated arrangements in cases of urgent need.

Commuters are advised to plan their travel and stock essential commodities in advance as local access will not be permitted except under exceptional circumstances. Detours have been arranged, and drivers are urged to follow alternative routes and pay attention to traffic signage, especially in work zones such as bridges and culverts.

The authorities regret any inconvenience caused and request public cooperation to ensure the timely completion of this critical road repair work.
