    Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday informed 300 projects will be inaugurated in the State as part of the Golden Jubilee celebration of Meghalaya’s Statehood Day.

    Sangma who contracted COVID-19 delivered his speech virtually on the momentous occasion of the 50th year of Statehood.

    The Chief Minister emembered the contributions that have been made by the great leaders who contributed to the Statehood.

    “We remember all the individuals who have contributed and different political parties, different organisations, different families, the traditional institutions, the community, the unsung heroes who spent many days in prison so that we could enjoy the fruits of having our own State of Meghalaya,” he said.

    He also congralutated the State of Manipur and the State of Tripura on their Statehood Day also.

    Every citizen of the State, every farmer of the State, every entrepreneur, every sportsperson, every leader, every mission has contributed to making what the State is today, Sangma said.

    “I would like to thank Professor David Syiemlieh and his team for putting together the wonderful Coffee Table Book on Meghalaya@50 in the great compilation of the history of the State in one Coffee Table Book and has covered all the aspects of the State of Meghalaya,” he also said.

    The Chief Minister remembered late Indira Gandhi who was the then Prime Minister, late Governor, Nehruji, late Capt Williamson Sangma the first Chief Minister of State who had been there on the occasion of the inauguration of the Statehood.

    Sangma said that State witnessed great contributions in the road and infrastructure where they had 150 kms of National Highways when they started off as a State and today it is over 1000 kms of National Highways.

    The State had households taps for 4500 households then but now today they are almost crossing 2 lakhs households.

    Sangma informed that the inauguration of the IT Park which will create 1500 jobs to the youth in the State will be held soon.

    He also said that the laying of the foundation stone for the New Administrative City will aids in de-congestion of Shillong city and the city will be set up in lands measuring over 800 acres, which has already been procured.

    The Chief Minister informed during past few months different committees were formed to visit the different locations, visit each and every 36 villages in the first 6 areas of differences. And after the visit has been made, reports have been submitted to the respective State Governments and the State Government have further submitted the reports to MHA.

    “I am hopeful that in the next few weeks and months we should be able to come to a concrete solution and a complete decision on the first 6 areas of differences,” he asserted.
