SHILLONG: The North East Students Organisation (NESO) has strongly condemned the move of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to enact the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) if it is voted back to power after the Lok Sabha polls.

In a statement issued here on Monday, NESO chairman Samuel B Jyrwa while reacting to the manifesto, has reminded that the whole of North East was up in arms in recent months against the move by the Government of India to pass this CAB in the Rajya Sabha.

“In this regard, NESO strongly condemns this move by the BJP as it clearly shows that it has no regard for the welfare of the microscopic indigenous communities of the North East but rather this move is to reduce us to a minority in our own land,” Jyrwa said..

He also reiterated that NESO does not distinguish people on the basis of their religion a foreigner is a foreigner irrespective whether a Muslim or a Hindu.

“We would like to send a clear message that it will not allow anyone to put our future generation at risk and the movement is on and will continue for uplift, safeguard, protection from both internal and external aggression,” he added.
