    The North Eastern Hill University Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA) has recently elected its new executive committee for the year 2020-21.

    The association has also re-elected Prof XP Mao as its president. The other members of the new body include Dr Marbhador M. Khymdeit as General Secretary, Prof. U.K. De as Vice-President, Dr. Jiwesh Binong as Joint Secretary and Dr. (Ms.) J. I.Rapthap as Treasurer.

    Rest of the elected Executive Committee comprise of Prof. D. Syiem, Prof. (Ms.) Esther Syiem, Dr. P. Biswas, Dr. D. Pyngrope, Dr.(Ms.)J.J. Thabah, Dr. (Ms.) Ramona M. Sangma from Tura Campus.

    The election process was conducted on June 12, by following COVID-19 protocols.

    Prof Mao in a statement said the NEHUTA members reaffirmed their united effort to lead NEHU out of its present deteriorating condition.

    Many a times the NEHUTA raised matters related to appointment and promotion of teachers. The NEHUTA pledged its commitment for the overall welfare of the University.

    “In line with these efforts, the newly elected body affirmed its determination to fight all injustices, corruption, intransparencies and uphold the values of higher education firmly facing all the extraneous challenges,” he said.

    He said the elected body solicits support, cooperation and suggestion of all the faculty members of NEHU and its affiliated institutions to build up a stronger teachers’ fraternity to pursue objectives set by national teachers’ bodies like All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organization(AIFUCTO) and Federation of Central Universities’ Teachers’ Associations (FEDCUTA).
