NEHU’s Prof AK Chandra’s groundbreaking research earns acclaim in Chemistry – A European Journal

The North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) has taken pride in the exceptional achievement of Professor A.K. Chandra, a distinguished member of the Department of Chemistry, for his remarkable contribution to the field of molecular science. 

Prof. Chandra’s paper titled “Strong Be N Interaction Induced Complementary Chemical Tuning to Design a Dual-gated Single Molecule Junction” has not only been published in the prestigious Chemistry—A European Journal, but has also been distinguished as a “HOT paper” by the editorial board.

The groundbreaking research conducted by Prof. A.K. Chandra and his esteemed co-authors, Dipankar Sutradhar, Amrit Sarmah, and Pavel Hobza, has garnered international recognition for its innovative insights into molecular interactions and their applications in designing cutting-edge nanoscale devices. The paper explores the phenomenon of Strong Be N Interaction, providing a novel approach to complementary chemical tuning that has enabled the design of a dual-gated single molecule junction with extraordinary precision and control.

Co-author Dipankar Sutradhar, affiliated with the School of Advanced Sciences and Languages at VIT Bhopal University, Bhopal, India, played a pivotal role in contributing to the research.
