The North Eastern Hill University Non-teaching Staff Association (NEHUNSA) has demanded the immediate resignation of the incumbent Vice Chancellor of the central university, Prof SK Srivastava.

In a letter to Prof Srivastava on Tuesday, the NEHUNSA has demanded that he gracefully tenders his resignation to pave way for the senior-most professor to take over as the VC of the University, who shall be available for discussion and implement policies that can bring about bold and concrete decisions in favor of the employees and the university.

NEHUNSA president, Dr Wandondor R Synrem said the association is very much disheartened with the way by which the VC is neglecting his duties shouldered upon him by the Visitor of India.

“His actions and regular absence prove that he is not at all interested in performing the expected and required administrative works. The University is suffering since the Head of the Institute is not available and capable to take able decisions. Since December 24, till date Prof SK Srivastava is not available in the office,” Dr Synrem said.

According to him, it becomes difficult for NEHUNSA to discuss important issues related to the welfare of the employees and the University as a whole.

“We observed that the whole University system is falling and failing due to the unavailability of the Vice-Chancellor,” he said while adding that even the appointment of the important advertised posts are delayed due to the lack of interest of the VC.
