    In order to safeguard the District /State from Omicron Variant of COVID-19, Garod  LSN Dykes IAS, District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District on Wednesday directed person(s) unwilling to take vaccination are required to produce the negative RTPCR Test report for attending any public and religious gathering, sport events, functions and other forms of large gathering and violation is an offence punishable with fine under Section 51 (6)of the Disaster Management Act, 200.

    The order is issued in exercise of the powers conferred under section 144 Cr. P.C. read together with Regulations 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Disease, COVID-19 Regulation 2020 do hereby under direct as under immediate effect and until further orders

    Garod urged that all eligible individuals should take the vaccine as data has proven that it is effective in reducing the severity of COVID-19 infection and  Social Distancing is compulsory and individuals must maintain a minimum distance of Six feet in public places.

    The order also stressed on use of face covers/masks to be mandatory. Wearing of N-95 masks or double masking is encouraged for better protection. Practicing of frequent hand washing with soap (for at least 40-60 seconds) even when hands are not visibly dirty and use of alcohol-based sanitizers (for at least 20 seconds) can be made wherever feasible.

    Respiratory etiquettes to be strictly followed. This involved strict practice of covering-one’s mouth and nose while coughing/sneezing with a tissue/handkerchief/flexed elbow and disposing of used tissues properly.

    Self-monitoring of health by all and reporting any symptoms at the earliest to State helpline  14410 or nearest Public Health institution (CHC/PHC).

    The order reminded that Spitting in public places is strictly prohibited and also appealed to avoid travelling and crowding places.
