In the NEET (UG) – 2024 exam on May 5th, a mix-up with the question papers surfaced at Alpha English Higher Secondary School in Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi District. Some candidates received two sets of papers, one from the State Bank of India and one from Canara Bank.

According to candidates they were told to answer both, but later found out one set was wrong. This caused confusion and wasted time, leaving them with less time to finish the correct set.

As a result, many candidates couldn’t answer all the questions worth 720 marks and left the exam feeling upset. Concerned parents went to the centre seeking help for their children, asking for a chance for them to retake the exam due to the centre’s mistake.

W K Blah, Code Examination Centre, acknowledged the mix-up and said they tried to contact NTA officials before the exam but couldn’t reach them until exam day. After more complaints, parents were advised to write to the NTA in New Delhi to request a retake for affected students in Ri Bhoi District.

It may be mentioned that same issues are facing by candidates in Jowai Centre, St Mary Mazzarello Girls Hr Sec School, which they have raised serious concerns regarding the distribution of question papers during the examination.

Hundred of candidates on Monday thronged the centre to seek clarification and submit the complaints to the NTA, Education Minister of Meghalaya, the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills District and the Director of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Meghalaya, seeking swift resolution and redressal of their grievances.
