    The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat in collaboration with the Office of the District Sports Officer, East Jaintia Hills District on Tuesday organized an Open Marathon in East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat as part of the 12th National Voters Day celebration.

    The Open Marathon flagged off from the Old Deputy Commissioners Office to Rymbai PHC and back to the Old Deputy Commissioners Office where the run concluded.

    The National Voters Day Programme under the theme “Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative” was also held at the conference room of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat. While addressing the gathering, Shri. S.S. Syiemlieh, MCS, I/c Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, said that the main objective of the National Voters Day celebration is to encourage, felicitate and maximize enrolment especially the new voters in the district.

    The participants at the programme also took the National Voters Day, Pledge that was led by SS Syiemlieh, MCS, I/c Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District. During the programme, the new voters of the district were felicitated and the BLO Icon of the district also handed over the Voters ID and Badges to the new voters. Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the Open Marathon Competition that was held earlier in the day.

    Others who attended the programme include F Wan, MCS, EAC, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, SM Rapsang, District Sports Officer East Jaintia Hills District, D Lyngdoh, District Disaster Management Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, JW Dkhar, President NPP, East Jaintia Hills District and D Lamo, Headman Rangad Village.
