Naming of a viewpoint can’t be the agenda of a party like BJP: Kharkrang

BJP Meghalaya Chief Spokesperson M Kharkrang on Tuesday said the party has no connection with a recent proposal to establish a ‘Raja Memorial Viewpoint’ in Sohra.
The proposal was made by James Syiemiong, who claimed to be a senior BJP member, in a letter to the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday.
Kharkrang stated that Syiemiong’s viewpoint is personal and not reflective of the party’s agenda. “The naming of a viewpoint has not been discussed in the party at any level, at any time,” he emphasized. The use of the BJP symbol on Syiemiong’s letter does not imply that it is an official party document,” he said.
BJP Meghalaya reminded the public that official party communications are only carried out through authorized channels and individuals. “Any official communication by the party is carried out through proper channels and only by individuals who have been authorized by BJP’s highest leadership,” Kharkrang said.
The BJP spokesperson reiterated the party’s focus on good governance, welfare of the state, and clean administration. “Naming of a viewpoint can’t be the agenda of a party like BJP,” he said, emphasizing the party’s commitment to more pressing issues.
