Nahid Afrin unveils ‘Qasm-e-ulfat’: A new ghazal of love and longing

Jyoti Chitraban turned into a haven of melody on Tuesday evening as singer Nahid Afrin unveiled her latest ghazal, “Qasm-e-ulfat.” Sung and composed by Afrin herself, the song explores the unspoken beauty of love—the quiet ache of incompleteness, the tenderness of silence, and the whispers of emotions left unsaid.

The launch drew an impressive gathering. Legendary singer Manisha Hazarika, actors Pranjal Saikia and Kapil Bora, academic Dr. Anjan Jyoti Choudhury, Kumar Padmapani Bora, and music director Rupam Talukdar were among the dignitaries who attended. Each guest expressed admiration for the song and the accompanying visuals created by VZN Production.

Speaking at the event, Nahid Afrin shared, “Qasm-e-ulfat is very close to my heart. It reflects emotions we often leave unsaid—the quiet pain of incompleteness and the unspoken beauty of love. I am grateful to everyone who joined us tonight and made this launch special.”

The ghazal features lyrics by Aafaqui, with Gauranga-Bixal handling music production, and Trihangku Lahkar on mix-mastering. The music video marks the directorial debut of Manas Gogoi under VZN Production, visually capturing the emotional depth of the composition.

With “Qasm-e-ulfat”, Nahid Afrin once again bridges classical tradition and modern musical sensibilities, gifting ghazal lovers a melody that feels both timeless and contemporary.
