Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma on Monday expressed concern over alleged alienation of government land during the past four years.

Speaking to reporters, Mukul has cited a land in Garo Hills which is within the Bimol area under the custody of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).

He said there is a petition filed by the people before the government urging it not to do anything or decide anything which again forces the people to alienate from their land. You need to do some more digging into this issue. That is why I am saying that the whole intent of the people in the government, particularly the political executive, must be under scanner.

He said that the revenue lands in the Shillong area must also be under scanner. He informed that as per some inputs received, many of the government revenue lands have been alienated during the last 4 years after 2018.

Mukul assured that as a political party they would do their job on the matter by standing with the people and protect the state.

He also urged the people to share inputs with the AITC on such incidents. He said people can collectively resolve together to protect the interest of the state.

On the alleged irregularities in the Directorate Printing and Stationery department, Mukul said the irony is that the actions of this present government is reflective of blatant engagement of nepotism, favouritism and ill will towards people who belong to other political parties which is not acceptable and which is not in sync with the spirit of the constitution.

The incumbent government has failed to fulfill its responsibility of protecting the interest of the people- this is visible, palpable and it is there for everybody to see, he said.
