SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has requested the police to investigate into a recent social media post, which has tarnished the image of the corporation.

The decision was taken at the board meeting of the MTDC on Friday. According to press release, the board has resolved and requested the police to undertake a thorough investigation into the posts that have been recently circulated in social media where allegations have been made that tarnish the image of the corporation.

The Board has requested the SP, East Khasi Hills, who was a special invitee in the meeting, to conduct a thorough investigation into the entire matter.

The post has been uploaded in a facebook page created under the name of the deceased MTDC staff on the pretext of seeking justice. It has also claimed that the MTDC employee had died because she was trying to expose the alleged “corruption” in the corporation.

It may be mentioned here that the body of late Iohbianghun Sahkhar (57), Assistant Manager Account in the head office of the MTDC, was found lying inside a private forest at Umbir, Ri Bhoi District on June, earlier this year. She was tied with a plastic rope from her neck.
