The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) on Tuesday announced its decision to launch a non-cooperation movement from December 21, till the state government release the three-month pending salaries before December 20.

In a statement, MSSASA president Aristotle C Rymbai said, “(We) request the State Government through the Secretary Education to take appropriate actions for release the remaining 3 months salary for the month of August, September and October, 2021 on or before December 20, failing which (it)  compel us to go for a ‘Non-Cooperation Movement’ in any activities being asked to perform by the Govt in schools and also other duties engaged and assigned to SSA teachers which are not linked to education from December 21 onwards till the state government pay the remaining salary.”

He said the association has also decided to launch a letter campaign against Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Education Minister starting from December 22 to January 14, next year.

This will be followed by democratic peaceful protest Black Flag Sit – in Demonstration and candlelight vigil  on January 21.

The decision was taken after a delegation of the Association had met with the Secretary Education  Ambrose Ch. Marak on November 16 and discussed the matter to release the remaining 3 months salary at the earliest possible before Christmas Festival.
