MSPB to recommend solution to Shillong traffic congestion, asserts need for reforming education sector

The Meghalaya State Planning Board (MSPB) will soon submit its recommendations to the state government for resolving the evergrowing traffic congestion problem in Shillong city.
At the same time, the board has strongly recommended all stakeholders to be equally responsible for bringing the necessary changes and reforms in the education sector in the state.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Chairman of the Metbah Lyngdoh said the board is examining all the points and actions taken by the different departments, which are part and parcel of the solution as far as solving the traffic congestion issue is concerned.
“The board will definitely come up with some kind of suggestions and we will place it before the government for further consideration so that the same can be implemented in Shillong city,”he added.
Lyngdoh informed that the board had recently reviewed the education sector and asserted the need for all stakeholders to plaly their role to ensure complete reform of the same.
“We have discussed at length as we understand very well that there is a lot of things that need to be done in the department. But one very important point here is government alone, I say is very difficult (to bring changes). We need to ensure all stakeholders play their own role and ensure complete reform as far as education is concerned” he said.
Referring to the presentation given by the education department, the MSPB charman said, “They have really worked on the changes that need to be done as far as education department is concerned. All who are responsible for that, have really put on their heads together.”
“Other stakeholders also have to be taken into consideration and they also have to see that they are equally responsible in the education department. Stakeholders should under the role they can play (in bringing necessary reformation),” he added.
According to him, blame game should be avoided.
