SHILLONG: The Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) in its meeting held on Friday has condemned the incidence at West Jaintia Hills District in which young girls and minors were pushed into illegal trafficking by vested interests.

Chairperson of the Commission Theilin Phanbuh said using of young girls and minors as commodities is illegal and morally wrong which is not at all acceptable to the Society.

“We request the authorities concerned to go deeper to find out the main traffickers and to ensured that the rule of laws to be strictly adhered to without any impunity to any individual involved,” Phanbuh said.

Meanwhile, the Commission has also expressed grief to see another woman found death at Umbir.

According to the chairperson, the Commission would seek a status report from the concerned authority and request to take up the matter seriously
