    The District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat has imposed Section 144 Cr PC prohibiting movement of individuals, within one km radius of Indo-Bangladesh border of East Jaintia Hills District from Friday to Thursday in view of the General Elections to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly 2023 scheduled on while the date of counting will be on Thursday.

    According to the order, the unregulated movement of individuals between the two countries if allowed might lead to law and order problem leading to danger to human life, safety and disturbance to public tranquillity.

    “It is necessary that International Border with Bangladesh must be sealed and movement to and fro International Border should be restricted,” the order said.
