Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sohra Saloni Verma IAS has imposed Section 144 CrPC prohibiting the movement of all types of heavy carrier vehicles within Sohra Civil Sub Division for 48 hours from Thursday 5 pm to Saturday 5 pm.

The prohibitory order has been issued in order to avoid traffic congestion and untoward incidents during the period of movement of Polling Personnel, Sector Officers and Zonal Magistrates during the conduct of General Election to the Lok Sabha Election, 2024 on Friday.

The SDM directed all ongoing works carried out by the departments concerned such as Pipes and OFC Cables lining in the road side of PWD (Roads) shall also be temporarily stopped during the said period to ensure smooth movement of vehicles on Elections duty and to avoid any disruption in internet service during election.

The SDM directed that road side parking of heavy commercial vehicles and broken down vehicles in the Sub Division are to be removed immediately and to be parked in the open space.

The SDM warned anyone who violated the prohibitory order will be prosecuted as per relevant sections of law.
