SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Other Backward Classes Association (MOBCA) has sought the intervention of the chief minister Conrad K Sangma into the grievances faced by the other backward classes in the state.

A delegation of the association led by its president RG Pradhan also handed over a memorandum to the chief minister during a meeting held at his official residence here on Saturday.

Pradhan informed that the deputy commissioners of the different districts had stopped issuing OBC certificate after 2004 thereby causing colossal loss to one generation of OBC for the last 15 years in terms of reservation of seats in educational institutions and quota in jobs and other benefits and privileges as provided under the constitution of India.

Meanwhile, the chief minister has assured the delegation that he would look into the matter.
