C&RD Minister AT Mondal on Monday informed that the Congress MP from Shillong Vincent H Pala has not conevene the DISHA meetings in East Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi during the last one year.

The opposition VPP legislator from Mawryngkneng and UDP legislator from Nongpoh Mayralborn has requested the government to ask the MP to convene the DISHA meeting in the two districts.

Mondal said, “I will inform the MP to convene the DISHA meeting.”

He said convening of the DISHA meeting is the prerogative of the MP concerned to review implementation of all central government flagship programmes and to also look into the grievances faced by the respective beneficiaries.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the DISHA is not a programme of the state government.

“It is not the state’s responsibility (to convene the meeting). Government of India monitor (the central schemes) through the MP and the MP of that constituency is his/her prerogative (to convene the said meeting) as it is directly between the departments and the MP…..,” he added.
