SHILLONG: Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh on Monday urged the state government to consider setting up of a police outpost and a fire emergency service station at Mawkynrew in East Khasi Hills District.

Lyngdoh, who is also the PDF legislator from Mawkynrew constituency, also met the home minister James K Sangma requesting for his intervention into the matter.

Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh informed that he had already submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma earlier last year but the government is yet to consider the request till today.

He said at present, people from the different villages under the constituency have to come all the way to Madanriting for filing complaint.

Meanwhile, the home minister has assured that the government would soon examine the proposal.
