The two persons arrested for the murder of a ten-year-old boy at Umtangar village in Ri Bhoi have revealed that they had committed the crime just because the minor had tried to run away with a liquor bottle belonging to one of them.

Pynshailang Warjri (32) from Umtangar village and Banshngain Tynsong (28) from Pynursla were arrested on Thursday.

“During further interrogation of the suspects it was revealed that the victim had stayed at the shed of one of the suspects on the evening of February 17. On the morning of February 18, the victim had tried to run away with a liquor bottle belonging to one of the suspects. In a fit of anger, the suspect Shri B. Tyngsong and another accomplice chased him and murdered him by smothering him with a bag around his face,” Ri Bhoi SP Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said.

“Thereafter, they hid the body near a forested area and waited until evening to shift the body of the victim to the garden of Shri Comand Nongrang. Further the accomplice has also been arrested,” he said.

The SP said that recreation of the crime scene will be carried out for the perpetrators to reveal the whole sequence of the crime.
