Minister Comingone Ymbon inaugurates 70th All India Cooperative Week celebration in Shangpung

Minister in charge Cooperation department Comingone Ymbon inaugurated the 70th All India Cooperative Week celebration at Moosyiem Shangpung, West Jaintia Hills District on Tuesday. The event, themed “Role of Cooperative Marketing in India: A five trillion Dollar Economy and Sustainable Development Goals,” was organized by the Cooperation Department in collaboration with the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd, Rural Finance Shillong, and Meghalaya Livelihoods and Access to Markets Projects (Megha-LAMP) of Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA).
The focal point of the day’s discussions was “Recent Developments in Cooperatives.”
Minister Comingone Ymbon, addressing the gathering, underscored the significance of strengthening the cooperative movement for collective growth. He urged members to actively engage in the proper implementation of government projects, advocating a shift towards entrepreneurship. Minister Ymbon also encouraged parents and job-seeking youths to redirect their focus from government jobs to fostering entrepreneurship.
Highlighting the recently launched CM-Elevate initiative, the Minister informed attendees about the opportunities for entrepreneurs to apply for various schemes supporting tourism, agriculture, entertainment, and other social sectors.


Additionally, Minister Ymbon called upon department officers to exhibit courtesy and provide proper guidance to visitors. Also, presence at the ceremony were W K Kharbuli, Additional Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, RC Sohkhlet, IAS Registrar Cooperative Societies, Meghalaya Shillong, and officials from the Cooperation Department, Megha-LAMP, MBMA, and Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd.
