  • Midday meal union serves ultimatum to govt for releasing of honorarium

    The All Jaiñtia Mid Day Meal Workers Union, Jaiñtia Hills served an ultimatum to the state government to release the honorarium from November 2021 till April 2022 on or before May 21, failing which they will go for hunger strike in the city.

    The decision was taken on Monday in a meeting held at Ladthadlaboh Indoor Hall.

    The union informed that recently they have sent a petition to Prime Minister Narendra and the Governor of Meghalaya apprised their grievance and urged to enhance their honorarium or salary from Rs.1000 to Rs.5000.

    The Union sent a clear message to the government that if the government failed to clear their honorarium from November 2021 till April 2022, they will go for hunger strike this month.

    The union lashed out against the adamant attitude of the government despite the fact that cook performed their professional duties preparing nutritional and hygienic foods for the students in various schools in Meghalaya.

    After the meeting, Biola Ïakai Vice President, JA Suting President, Joyceful Lypon General Secretary, Khroo L Pariat adviser among others met Joint director DSEL West Jaiñtia Hills District LS Lyngdoh.

    They apprised him that they are yet to receive the payment and urged the government to send their payment through DBT.

    “I will take your demand with the higher authority for releasing the payment from PM Poshan,” the Joint director assured during the meeting with the union.
