    The Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2023 commenced today in the city. Meghalaya’s Sports Minister Shakliar Warjri inaugurated the event at SAI, in NEHU Campus Shillong, joined by Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah, DGP Meghalya Dr. LR Bishnoi, Prof. DK Nayak Acting Vice Chancellor NEHU and other sports officials and participants..

    Meghalaya Sports Minister Shakliar Warjri while addressing the Athletes said the state Government is working hand in hand with the Central Government to promote sport in the Country.

    He also said Khelo India University Games 2023 is to promote sports in the state and in the country, Meghalaya is trying to promote sports to the youth of the state by holding competitions. We will see one day our youth will shine.

    He further said the youth of our country have a lot of talent, and he hopes that one day some of the athletes who took part at this event will represent their own respective states and even for the Country.

    Warjri further said that more than 33 Universities are taking part in the Khelo India University Games 2023 in the state.

    He wished all the athletes the very best, he urged them to make use of this opportunity, advising them to  believe in themselves. Once you believe in  yourself, your dream will be fulfilled, if not  today it may be tomorrow.

    He also said life is a learning process, keep working hard you will succeed one day.
