Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma on Monday said that the state ranking has improved during the last three years.

Speaking to reporters, Sangma said in the last three years, the state has witnessed tremendous improvement in PGI ranking. “In 2017, we are at level 8. We are at the bottom but now in 2021 we are at level 6,” he said.

He said that Kerala had secured 862 points in 2019 and 901 in 2020 which means they have improved by 39 points whereas Meghalaya also improved by 39 points when it got 610 points in 2019 and 649 points in 2020.

He also said that Kerala had improved by 27 points when it got 928 points in 2021 while Meghalaya improved by 69 points after scoring 716 in 2021.

“The improvement of our state is far better than Kerala which is at 69. Therefore, we are doing well as a state and we have improved a lot in the last two-three years,” he added.
