Meghalaya’s Cherry Blossom Festival wins 2 prestigious awards

Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Friday announced that the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival, Meghalaya’s biggest tourism festival, has received two gold awards under the Wow Asia organization.
The awards recognize the festival’s excellence in event management and cultural promotion.
Under the Special Event of the Year for Government, the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2024 won the gold award in this category, showcasing its impact as a government-organized event and under the festival of the Year (Culture in Full Bloom), the festival also received a gold award in this category, highlighting its cultural significance and appeal.
These awards demonstrate the success of Meghalaya’s tourism initiatives, particularly the Cherry Blossom Festival, in promoting the state’s cultural heritage and natural beauty. The Wow Asia organization, known for recognizing outstanding events in Asia, has acknowledged the festival’s efforts in creating a memorable experience for attendees.
The minister expressed delight in sharing the news, emphasizing that these awards are tangible outcomes of the festivals organized by the state government, especially the Cherry Blossom Festival.
“We are delighted to share with you that these are tangible outcomes of the festivals that we are organizing and more especially the Cherry Blossom Festival.”
