    The budget session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will be held from February 16 to February 27.

    Addressing media persons, Speaker Thomas A Sangma informed that the Business Advisory Committee has approved the calendar for the budget session.

    “The full budget session will start from February 16 to 27,” he said.

    He said there will be eight working days of which government business has been allotted for five days while for private members’ business for three days.

    The House will witness the address by the Governor on the first day and presentation of budget estimates 2024-2025 by the Chief Minister will be on February 21.

    Asked, the Speaker said after so many years, the Assembly will have eight working days. According to him, the calling for an early budget session is due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

    “We are also apprehensive that the general elections may be announced so we have to finish the full budget,” he added.
