West Jaintia District Sports Association were the biggest winners on the third day of the Meghalaya Youth League 2024, winning both their U-14 and U-16 matches by large margins.

WJDSA hosted Laskein Block Sports Association yesterday and won their U-16 match 5-1 after storming to a 12-0 victory in the U-14 contest. The latter match saw two hat-tricks at Jowai’s Kiang Nangbah Stadium through Ram Passah and Kaisarmi Dkhar.

After two games in each age category, WJDSA is leading Zone B with 6 points in each division.

Having played one match more, Ri-Bhoi District Sports Association became the first team to reach 9 points in the U-16 bracket thanks to a 5-0 victory over Western Ri-Bhoi Sports Association in Zone C at Umdihar Mini Stadium. Me-u-ba-ai Sumer of RBDSA has quickly become the top scorer of this age category after scoring three against Western Ri-Bhoi, which gives him 5 goals in total so far.

In the U-14 division, where RBDSA were not in action this weekend, Pyndengumiong District Sports Association became the first to 9 points with a 1-0 win against Nongstoin District Sports Association in Zone D at Dommawlum Playground in a keen contest between two of the strongest teams in the group.

Also in Zone D, Mawshynrut Sports Association and Tyrsad Area Sports Association went up against each other at Riangdo Playground. Neither side had scored before in the U-14 age group, so this was a chance for both to get some points on the board. In the end, Mawshynrut came through with a 3-1 victory.
