West Jaintia District Sports Association confirmed their lock on the top spots in both the U-14 and U-16 categories of Zone B in the Meghalaya Youth League 2024 following Saturday’s matches.

The tournament is organised by the Meghalaya Football Association with the support of the Meghalaya government.

Needing to avoid defeat to second-placed Amlarem Block Sports Association, West Jaintia won 4-0 in the U-14 category and then drew 1-1 in the U-16s. Kaisarmi Dkhar scored another hat-trick in the first match for WJDSA.

West Jaintia now have 21 points to Amlarem’s 13 in the U-14 age group and 17 compared to 11 in the U-16.

Meanwhile, Laskein Block Sports Association played their last matches of the season and drew 2-2 with East Jaintia District Football Association in the U-14 match. East Jaintia then won the U-16 contest 1-0.

In Zone C, Ri-Bhoi District Sports Association hosted Sohra Sports Association and won both matches handsomely – 5-0 in the U-14 and 10-0 in the U-16. Iaisynroplang Syiemlieh and Me-u-ba-ai Sumer each produced a hat-trick in these respective fixtures.

There was also one U-16 match between Shillong Sports Association and Western Ri-Bhoi Association, with SSA winning 4-0. RBDSA are leading in both categories, with Shillong second.

Zone D saw a double victory for Nongstoin District Sports Association as they defeated Mawshynrut Sports Association 5-0 in the U-14 category and 4-0 in the U-16s. Ronifield Dkhar Rit bagged a treble in the first match.

Pyndengumiong District Sports Association won both of their games against Mawkyrwat District Sports Association 1-0, with the U-16 win taking them from fifth in the points table to third.

The other two teams in action were Eastern Border Sports Association and Tyrsad Area Sports Association. EBSA won the U-14 match 2-0 but the U-16 encounter ended all-square at 2-2.

Nongstoin lead both age groups, with Pyndengumiong second in the U-14s and Eastern Border second in the U-16s.

The top two teams from each zone will qualify for next month’s quarterfinals. Zone A, based in Garo Hills, has already completed its matches.
