Meghalaya, WFP begin work on 5-Year Strategic Vision for TPDS

The Government of Meghalaya, in partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), launched the first workshop to draft a 5-Year Strategic Vision Document for the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) at the Shillong Club on Friday.
The initiative seeks to strengthen food security, ensure equitable access to subsidized food grains, and address challenges faced by more than 3 million residents, especially those living in tribal and hard-to-reach areas.
The workshop was attended by Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Comingone Ymbon, Commissioner & Secretary Pravin Bakshi (IAS), Director Saloni Verma (IAS), along with senior officials from various districts and departments.
Officials said the effort reflects the state government’s commitment to improving welfare and food distribution systems for vulnerable sections of the population.
