Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday said Meghalaya will be the first state in the country to introduce the e-Coupon, which seeks to ensure every youth has skills and is allowed to follow their passion.

Replying to the debate on the no-confidence motion in the Assembly, Sangma said the e-coupon is in line with the state’s youth policy and is the first in the country.

“We are going to target all youths of the state by ensuring that every youth has a skill and is allowed to follow their hobby and passion. The e-coupon will allow youth (age group 13-18) to be trained for six months on any skill or hobby,” he said.

He said the second part is that there will be service providers (age group 25-35) to train the youth and thus creating employment for over 10,000 youth.

“We will invest Rs 30 – Rs 50 crore,” the chief minister said while informing that the implementation will be across the state and in a phase manner.
