Meghalaya State Government Employees appealed for early release of remaining 4% DA

The Meghalaya State Government Employees’ Federation (MSGEF) has appealed to the Meghalaya Government for the early release of the remaining four percent Dearness Allowance (DA).
The appeal was made to the Meghalaya Chief Secretary vide No. FDN FC/2023/6 Dated, Shillong the 7th December, 2023.
They informed that vide OM No. F(PR)-53/2017/60, Dated the 30 May, 2023, Dearmess Allowance was enhanced at the rate 36% w.e.f 1.1.2023.
“It may be brought to your kind notice that in previous years, DA was allotted/released in the months of April and November respectively. However, in the last 2-3 years, it has been observed by one and all that this practice was not followed up,” the letter said

The Federation requested that the practice to be adhered to for the overall interest, smooth functioning and timely receipt of the same by all concerned Government Employees and Pensioners.
According to the letter, the Federation reasoned that the prices of essential and basic commodities have surged up especially that they are approaching the festive season and made them difficult to manage the spiral costs of these commodities and having to bear the burden of inflation.
They appealed that the remaining Dearness Allowance may perhaps be released so as to fulfill the aspirations of most State Government Employees and Pensioners especially in this festive time of joy and jubilation.
