    Assembly Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh today expunged unparliamentary words by a member while participating in the debate on the no-confidence motion tabled by the opposition.

    Giving his rulng on the matter, Lyngdoh said the unparliamentary words by NCP legislator from Gambegre, Saleng A Sangma will be expunged from the procceedings of the House. 

    This was based on the request made by the Deputy Chief Minister in-charge parliamentary affairs, Prestone Tynsong, who has requested members to maintain the dignity and decorum of the House. 

    Saleng was seen losing his temper and interrupted when opposition Congress legislator from Rangsakona, Zenith Sangma said that he beg to disagree with the Gambegre legislator that the state is peacefull. 

    Zenith pointed out that the reason being the state witnessing assault on activities for trying to document the illegal transportation of coal in the state and government having to impose a record 80 days curfew due to the violent protest on the issue related to Them metor. 

    Saleng shouted at Zenith asking him not to deviate and that he had stated the state is in a better situation. 

    “I said better because I was a victim (of militancy problem), I have been targetted, my house got blasted, my people were killed…,” he said. 

    Zenith reacting by asking the NCP legislator, “Don’t talk to me, talk to the chair.”

    Asking the member to be calm, Deputy Speaker Timothy Shira said, “Please be calm, be patient, we are matured and we are public representatives.”
