Meghalaya should strengthen its borders: Congress

The opposition Congress on Thursday asserted the need for the government to speed up construction of the border fencing along the Indo-Bangla border.
“Meghalaya has to strengthen its borders. The BSF is taking care of that and I think the Army is very well verse and very well aware and I think there is talk that there should be border fencing which has to gain speed and I believe that we need to start looking at it from that perspective as we don’t really have a neighbour, who is stable. It is a very volatile neighbour that we have from an administration point of view. So, it is kind of dangerous and we need to take care of that,” Secretary of the MPCC Manuel Badwar told reporters.
Asked, Badwar said, “I don’t see that geo politics will change much except for the fact that even Bangladesh to me is becoming rogue by the day so if you have rogue country which does not have a proper mechanism of governance, they will make all sorts of loose statements and we have heard the kinds of statements being made by some of the key personalities of Bangladesh and it is not something which has to be taken lightly because they are also being funded and probably there is an agenda behind that they want to improve their economic status for which they are taking help from China and we as a state stands firm that we should not allow such anti-national activities to happen and no matter what kinds of statements they make we should not take it lightly.”
On the India-Pakistan prevailing situation, the Congress leader said that the whole nation has to be together heart and soul with the government and with the defence forces of the country.
“Project Sindoor as the name signifies is only being named after the massacre of especially young couples who are newlywed. We have lost a lot. I think the whole nation has to be together with the government, with the nation and with the public and we as a country, we are about to become the third largest economy in the world. We are not small anymore,” he stated.
“Where is Pakistan? Pakistan is nowhere to be so why can’t we stand together and we have to fight, we have to show the world that we are also standing our ground. We should not be bullied. This proxy war that is being fought by Pakistan especially on Indian soil should not be tolerated by any means by any government or by any so to say Indian. We are all Indians and we should stand as one,” he added further.
