  • Meghalaya reports 38 new COVID-19 cases, 27 recovery

    Thirty-eight more persons, including 29 civilians, tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the total active cases in the state to 605.

    Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said of the 38 new cases, 18 are from East Khasi Hills district which include 16 civilians and 2 armed forces personnel, 20 are from Ri Bhoi district of which 13 are civilians and 7 armed forces personnel.

    Dr War also informed that 27 patients -including 25 Border Security Force (BSF) troopers in East Khasi Hills and 2 civilians in Ri Bhoi – have recovered from the infection today. With this, the total number of recoveries have also increased to 450.

    Of the 605 active cases in the state, the Director said East Khasi Hills has 446 cases of which 261 are civilians, 117 BSF troopers and 68 armed forces personnel from the Army and Assam Rifles.

    There are 83 cases in Ri Bhoi, 31 in West Garo Hills, 18 in East Jaintia Hills, 15 in West Jaintia Hills, 6 in West Khasi Hills, 2 in South West Garo Hills, 2 in South Garo Hills and 2 in North Garo Hills.

    So far six people have died due to corona virus in the state.
