  • Meghalaya reports 103 new COVID-19 cases, 30 recovery

    103 more persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the total active cases in the state to 2,111.

    Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said 78, including 3 heath workers, 38 high risk contacts, 9 Mawprem cluster, 4 Barapathar cluster, 4 Nongmynsong cluster, 3 Laban cluster, 3 Kenchs Trace cluster, 3 Rilbong cluster, 3 PB cluster, 2 Keating Road cluster, 1 Jhalupara cluster, 1 ILI case, 1 returnee and 3 armed forces/paramilitary forces (AF/PF) personnel were detected from East Khasi Hills district. 

    He said 14 cases were also detected Ri Bhoi district which include 6 high risk contacts, 7 Umsong cluster and 1 AF/PF, 7 cases from West Garo Hills district (4 AF/PF, 2 high risk, 1 returnee), 3 from West Khasi Hills district (1 high risk, 2 returnees) and 1 returnee from South West Garo Hills district.

    Dr War informed that 30 more patients have also recovered from the viral infection. The new recovered cases include 25 from West Garo Hills, 4 from Ri Bhoi and 1 from East Khasi Hills. 

    The state has recorded a total of 4,660 COVID-19 positive cases of which 2,111 are active, 2,513 recovered and 36 deaths. 

    East Khasi Hills, where the state capital is located continue to be the worst affected district in the state with over 1,510 active cases, that includes 1,271 civilians and 239 AF/PF personnel, followed by East Jaintia Hills with 275 cases, 142 in Ri Bhoi, 123 in West Garo HIlls, 17 in South West Garo HIlls, 13 in West Khasi Hills, 9 in West Jaintia Hills, 8 in South Garo Hills, 6 in South West Khasi Hills, 5 in East Garo Hills and 3 in North Garo Hills.
