    The total COVID-19 active cases stand at 2,069 on Monday as the state recorded its lowest single day spike of 28 new cases.

    Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the new cases include 11 from East Khasi Hills district, 6 West Jaintia Hills district, 5 Ri Bhoi district, 5 West Garo Hills district and 1 East Garo Hills district.

    Out of the 110 recovered COVID-19 patients, Dr War said, 72 are from East Khasi Hills, 23 Ri Bhoi, 13 West Garo Hills, 1 West Jaintia Hills and 1 South West Garo Hills.

    He said 6,392 COVID-19 patients have been discharged as on date.

    The state has detected a total of 8,536 COVID-19 out of which 2,069 are active cases, 6,392 recovered and 75 deaths.

    East Khasi Hills district tops the list of districts in positive cases with 1,366 infections, that include 30 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and 1,333 civilians, followed by Ri Bhoi 248 and West Garo Hills 177.

    In the other districts, 84 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 49 in West Khasi Hills, 48 in East Garo Hills, 33 in South Garo Hills, 25 in North Garo Hills, 17 in East Jaintia Hills, 15 in South West Khasi Hills and 10 in South West Garo Hills.

    “Till date, swab samples of 1,88,256 persons have been tested of which 1,79,720 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.

    There are 50,124 entrants from outside the state.
