    Twenty-four more persons have succumbed to COVID-19, pushing the death toll to 483 on Monday.

    A total of 17 deaths were reported in East Khasi Hills district, 3 West Jaintia Hills district, 2 West Khasi Hills district and 1 each in West Garo Hills district and East Jaintia Hills district, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said.

    The state has also recorded 811 new COVID-19 cases, taking the number of active cases to 7,788.

    Dr War said the new cases include 559 in East Khasi Hills, 103 Ri Bhoi, 77 West Jaintia Hills, 22 East Jaintia Hills, 21 West Garo Hills, 10 North Garo Hills, 6 South West Garo Hills, 5 East Garo Hills, 4 West Khasi Hills and 4 South West Khasi Hills.

    He also informed that 679 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.

    Of these, 425 are from East Khasi Hills, 98 Ri Bhoi, 44 West Garo Hills, 39 West Jaintia Hills, 23 West Khasi Hills, 21 East Jaintia Hills, 19 South West Garo Hills, 6 East Garo Hills, 3 South West Khasi Hills and 1 North Garo Hills.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 30,492 COVID-19 cases out of which 7,788 are active cases, 22,221 recovered and 483 deaths.

    With 4292 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 1,187 cases.

    There are 568 West Jaintia Hills, 516 cases in West Garo Hills, 302 South West Garo Hills, 266 East Jaintia Hills, 165 West Khasi Hills, 150 North Garo Hills, 135 South Garo Hills, 118 South West Khasi Hills and 89 East Garo Hills.
