    Seven more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 on Friday taking the death toll to 814 in the state.

    According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 3 deaths were reported from West Jaintia Hills district, 2 East Khasi Hills district and 1 each from East Garo Hills district and West Khasi Hills district.

    He said the state also detected 602 new cases. These include 134 in East Khasi Hills, 119 West Jaintia Hills, 126 West Garo Hills, 84 Ri Bhoi, 43 East Jaintia Hills, 23 North Garo Hills, 20 East Garo Hills, 18 West Khasi Hills, 14 South West Garo Hills and 4 South West Khasi Hills.

    Dr War also informed that 354 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

    Of these, 124 are from East Khasi Hills, 47 West Garo Hills, 5 Ri Bhoi, 25 North Garo Hills, 21 East Garo Hills, 27 South West Garo Hills, 12 West Khasi Hills, 16 South Garo Hills, 56 West Jaintia Hills and 16 East Jaintia HIlls.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 47,480 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,665 are active cases, 42,001 recovered and 814 deaths.

    With 1,403 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi 670 cases and West Jaintia Hills with 640 cases.

    There are 633 cases in West Garo Hills, 284 East Garo Hills, 219 North Garo Hills, 171 South West Garo Hills, 250 South West Khasi Hills, 139 South Garo Hills, 148 West Khasi Hills and 108 East Jaintia Hills.
