    The state on Sunday recorded four deaths due to COVID-19 pushing the death toll to 780.

    According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 3 deaths were reported from East Khasi Hills district and one from South West Garo Hills. 

    The state also detected 390 new COVID-19 cases taking the total number of active cases to 4,587.

    Dr War said the new cases include 134 in East Khasi Hills, 80 Ri Bhoi, 50 West Jaintia Hills, 49 West Jaintia Hills, 28 North Garo Hills, 19 East Garo Hills, 14 West Khasi Hills, 8 East Jaintia Hills, 5 South West Khasi Hills and 3 South West Garo Hills. 

    He also informed that 542 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.

    Of these, 223 are from East Khasi Hills, 59 West Garo Hills, 54 West Jaintia Hills, 37 North Garo Hills, 31 West Khasi Hills, 31 South West Khasi Hills, 28 Ri Bhoi, 26 East Garo Hills, 24 South Garo Hills, 18 South West Garo Hills and 11 East Jaintia HIlls.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 45,286 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,587 are active cases, 39,919 recovered and 780 deaths.

    With 1,503 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 728 cases and 582 West Jaintia Hills.

    There are 492 cases in Ri Bhoi, 284 South West Khasi Hills, 221 North Garo Hills, 231 East Garo Hills, 198 South West Garo Hills, 143 South Garo Hills, 130 West Khasi Hills and 75 East Jaintia Hills.
