    The state on Thursday recorded 3 more COVID-19 related deaths, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,536 even as 189 have tested positive for the virus, taking the total active cases to 2,005.

    Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the three deaths were reported from East Khasi Hills.

    Dr War also informed of the 189 new cases, 70 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 53 West Garo Hills, 15 Ri Bhoi, 7 South Garo Hills, 13 West Jaintia Hills, 6 Eastern West Khasi Hills, 4 South West Khasi Hills, 6 South West Garo Hills, 5 East Garo Hills and 1 West Khasi Hills.

    He said that 256 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 91,810 COVID-19 cases out of which 2,005  are active cases, 88,269 recovered and 1,536 deaths.

    East Khasi Hills has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 861 followed by West Garo Hills 475, Ri Bhoi 159, South West Garo Hills 91, West Jaintia Hills 87, South West Khasi Hills 66, Eastern West Khasi Hills 63, North Garo Hills 52, South Garo Hills 45, West Khasi Hills 37, East Garo Hills 37 and East Jaintia Hills 32.
