Meghalaya Police foil illegal cross-border attempt in Shillong

Acting on a tip-off from the Border Security Force (BSF) Intelligence Branch, Meghalaya Police on Tuesday intercepted a vehicle at Mawlai Bypass and successfully prevented an illegal cross-border attempt involving Bangladeshi nationals.
During the operation, police found two Bangladeshi nationals being assisted by two Indian touts in an effort to leave India and cross into Bangladesh without proper documentation. All four individuals were taken into custody for interrogation and further legal action.

The BSF Meghalaya, in a statement, said the successful operation highlights the “unwavering vigilance, operational efficiency, and dedication” of its personnel. It added that the synergy between the BSF and Meghalaya Police remains crucial in countering trans-border crimes and preventing illegal movement along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
