Meghalaya Police arrest two more in MP for destroying evidence in honeymoon murder case

The Meghalaya Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested two more individuals in connection with the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, a businessman from Indore who was killed during his honeymoon in Sohra.
The arrested individuals include Silome James and Balla Ahirwar, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said.
James, is a property dealer who rented out a flat to Vishal Singh Chauhan, one of the main accused in the case.
CCTV footage revealed that James removed a bag belonging to Sonam Raghuvanshi, the victim’s wife and a key accused, from the flat after the arrests. James was apprehended while attempting to flee to Bhopal, he said.
Ahirwar is security guard posted at the apartment complex where the flat is located. He is suspected of possessing crucial information related to the case and is believed to have handed over the bag to Silome James, he added.
The police investigation revealed that Sonam Raghuvanshi had stayed at the flat prior to her arrest, and the bag contained important evidence, including a laptop, cash, jewelry, and a pistol allegedly procured by her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha.
Both James and Ahirwar have been accused of destroying crucial evidence and will be produced before a local court in Indore to seek transit remand for their transfer to Shillong for further interrogation, the SP said.
With these arrests, the total number of individuals apprehended in the case has risen to seven, including Sonam Raghuvanshi, who surrendered to police in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district on June 8.
The investigation is ongoing, with the police seeking to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and all those involved.
